Rating: - Forget the 70s, Motorhead shined later
The best thing about this box set is the wealth of material from later in the career. Everyone rants and raves about the period from Overkill - Ace of Spades... but haven't you ever noticed that all the songs are boring and sound the same? Motorhead found diversity with Phil Campbell, and not before. Early Motorhead is exceptionally boring to listen to. Lemmy will be the first to tell you that. Ah, Motorhead. How we take them for granted. I`v been a fan for many years. Over the last few years, though, I haven`t bought many of their albums. I think it was after their extremly hard-to-find "Bastards" LP that I forgot about Lemmy and his ultimate brand of hard rock. When I heard this box set was coming out, it rekindled my interest.

I first came across the 'head in '93 (admittedly I was first properly alerted by a remix which appeared for a snack TV ad) which prompted this then young teen (now near mid 20's) to purchase their 'All The Aces' on cassette, an album which is a near flawless succession of their finest hits, and being still in print I still believe it's still the most vitally concise compilation to date. No fat.
