Amazon.co.uk Review: So this is where it all began. This is where Noel Gallagher first realised his vision of a band that matched the swagger of the Stone Roses to the harmonic thrill of the Beatles. It is difficult to resist this album, despite the obvious flaws. (It plods. The production is too heavy-handed. "Shakermaker" borrows its melody from a soft drink commercial.) There is such a passion, such self-belief in these tracks, such a refusal to be overwhelmed by the odds. "Cigarettes And Alcohol" virtually defined a generation. "Supersonic" still sends a pure adrenaline rush through the listener, despite the cack-handed lyrics. "Live Forever", meanwhile, is simply fantastic--still Oasis's finest moment. Singles aside, there are so many other gems to discover; from the classy "Up In The Sky" to the acoustic ballad "Married With Children" to the chirpy "Digsy's Diner". On this classic album--and its even finer follow-up (What's The Story) Morning Glory--Oasis still had a real naiveté to their sound, one that they subsequently lost. --Everett True

Rating: - An abominable, atrocious album
A terrible lot of old rubbish. Possibly some of the worst music in the entire history of Western civilization. The vocals are nazalised and grating. The music is an unoriginal copy of the Beatles, but without the imagination of Lennon/McCartney. In fact, Oasis amount to little more than a tenth-rate Beatles tribute band. The lyrics are very badly written and lack poetic qualities. If there was any justice, every extant copy would be burnt along with the original mastertapes, to prevent anyone ever ... Read More
Rating: - One great track...
One great track (Live forever) and a lot of average material. Although they would do better with Morning Glory they were never as good as the totally overlooked Diesel Park West (Check out the truly seminal "Shakespeare, Alabama").

Rating: - One of those debuts...
Some debut albums are so good that the bands who make them can never quite better them-either they never make another like The La's or they spend years failing to produce a follow up like The Stone Roses. Definitely Maybe is one. Oasis have produced great music ever since of course-albeit sometimes inconsistently-but never on the sustained level shown here. One of the greatest albums ever made,by anyone, ever.
Rating: - Simply Genius
The best album to come out of Britain since 'Sgt Pepper', this is an awe inspiring album. A real rocker of an album, it contains so many classics that it will blow your mind. With a great songwriter in Noel Gallagher, and a great singer in Liam Gallagher, you can't go wrong. Right through the album, you'll be amazed as to how Noel Gallgher puts his emotions into song, aided by his younger brother's unmistakeable sneering voice.
From the fantastic opener 'Rock n' Roll Star', you know these ... Read More
