Editorial Review:

Amazon.co.uk Review:
Karl Jenkins's mix of classical orchestration and world-music elements first gained notoriety through a TV advert for an airline. The female choir singing faux African chant and the bright, uplifting music resonated with viewers, making the album Songs of Sanctuary an enormous commercial success. Jenkins followed up with Cantata Mundi, and Dances of Time, also bestsellers. Now the Higher Octave label has compiled the best of this electronica artist's Adiemus projects with The Journey. Full of Jenkins's sweeping orchestral sounds, pseudo-ethnic chant from Miriam Stockley and friends, and layered world rhythms, this album acts as a great introduction to this unique New Age music. --Karen K. Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - 0 stars, if it were possible
What a dreadful pile of poo. Amazon, please give us the option of a no-star rating for horrific trash like this.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Mind Blowing, Soul Soothing
I bought this for the Adiemus track , which still has the power to bring tears to my eyes - but was completely blown away by the whole CD!
This to me is modern composition at its best, it reaches to your core. West and Africa meet in a blend of rhythms from joyful to soulful, insistant beat to syncopation and the blend of voices pure and unique. I understood the words which weren't words..the language of music.
At the second play my husband was hooked too..and we are now going to buy another ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Brilliant cods ******
This collection is also available, at the time of writing this, with a different sleeve, in the "popular" section of Amazon as "The Essential Adiemus" (worth checking out). That's the one I bought, and I'll repeat here what I said of it.

Let's face it, [the best of] Karl Jenkins and Adiemus is a load of cods:- it's cod-classical, cod-ethnic, and cod-advertising jingle music. But it's also quite brilliant, and you can't help but like it.

Not only like it, but play this just the once ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Unbelievable
I have never bought anything like this before, but what an absolutely unbelievable, magic and breathtaking CD. It's easy to "get lost" listening to the music and the performances by Miriam Stockley et al. If you love classical music and have never bought a CD before, then this is a must.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A beautiful rendition by a first class composer
A absolute must for lovers of classical, church and choral music, and especially lovers of Enya. The music is soothing, relaxing and very moving. Karl Jenkins is one of the great composers of our time.. his use of tension and release by chord movement is exceptional. It certainly takes the listener on a journey. A superb collection of musical art, both colourful and hopeful.
