Rating: - S;ick and swampy
If you like TJW you won't be disappointed-it might be a little slicker than his normal fare but this is no sell out-its no blues fest either-certainly bluesy but closer to country soul-see the testifying compliations for similar fare. Not a bad place to start if all you know is his hits-and a snip at the price.
Rating: - Tony Joe - so underrated
I've bought literally all this man's music, seen him live several times, and think that this is his best overall album. So many great tracks, but dip the lights, lay back and listen to the title track a few times - it's just brilliant. He does a tremendous live version on the Live in Germany DVD.Cannot see how this only rated 2 stars previously but what's an opinion?
Rating: - Be Careful.
This isn't Tony Joe as you might expect. I'm a fan of much of his music but i'm afraid that this just doesn't do it for me. The sound is too much like Chris Rea/Dire Straits rather than the swamp boogie and you too may struggle to get past that. If you're a really big fan and and know what you're after then it could be a delight, but if you're just starting out I'd go for Black and White, a best of or one of his 70s albums.

His version of the same is, by far better, and Tunica Motel and Undercover Agent For The Blues are excellent. This is a CD that I lent to two friends, and within a week of returning it, ... Read More
