Editorial Review:

Amazon.co.uk Review:
Prepare for a ride akin to flipping radio channels. Craig Armstrong's style was set for him with the success of Romeo + Juliet (the "Balcony Scene" being included here). It's what directors have wanted since (e.g. Best Laid Plans) and so why not capitalise on what will effectively be a useful demo and produce an album showcasing all that versatility? "Weather Storm" starts off as he means to go on--strong passages for strings underlined by rough- house club beats. What Armstrong also demonstrates here is a fine ear for comparative sampling with an orchestral backing. "Rise" is a good example of that, with it's layer of vinyl crackle. "After the Storm" is an even better one with tempo sliding about and a highly cut-and-paste intro of effects. With a track named after his hometown--"Glasgow"--there's obviously much that is personal about the project ("My Father"?). A great demonstration of a classical / film crossover artist encapsulating the best of both mediums. -- Paul Tonks

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Quite simply gorgeous!
Take good string/piano dominated classical music, make it moody & dramatic. Now sprinkle with just a hint of the more contemporary elements of the likes of Massive attack and drift off in to outerspace. In fact forget what I've just said, it's not doing the man enough justice! He is pure genius.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - continued genius
ive been totally drawn into his music since i heard 'this love' from his previous album. You can certainly hear his experience in soundtracks since then has created a more eclectic edge to his music, wihich has created a powerful blend of beats and strings. You really cant go wrong here, though perhaps 'the space between us' was more immediatly accessable, this provides more strength in depth.
The first track is wonderfull. the second is as memorable as 'this love' but reminds me more of 'lets ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - a classic
craig armstrong is a legend. as if producing and co-writing for massive attack, and scoring some of the best films of recent years (romeo and juliet, moulin rouge) wasn't enough, his contribution to music is completed with this and his 2nd album, As If To Nothing.

This is a perfect album, changing moods & tempos but the quality of the tunes and arrangements never falters.
highlight is 'this love' with liz fraser's fragile and beautiful vocals
armstrong deserves a higher profile.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Wow!
This album is amazing. There are some you will recognise, and some you will just love from the moment you here it. It mixes orchestral sounds with up-to-date beats and sounds you will want to listen to 24:7. Very relaxing, and emotion evoking. Songs from Romeo+Juliet, Cruel Intentions and that famous Claudia Schiffer car ad.
