Amazon.co.uk Review: "Virginia Plain", "Street Life", "Love Is The Drug", "Avalon"--they are all here on this splendid, all-encompassing greatest hits package. As on the other Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music hits compilation, Street Life, the early years of Brian Eno period Roxy Music are largely overlooked in favour of Ferry's later, less avant-garde fare, from the extraordinarily camp "A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall" to the chirpy "Let's Stick Together". Throughout, it's hard to resist the potent combination of Ferry's vampiric croon and Roxy Music's art school chic. A sexy and exciting ride through some of the finest pop moments of the 1970s and 80s. --Amber Cowan

Rating: - "More Than This...." - There will never be a song like this!
Some years back by accident I was introduced to this Great Band - "Roxy Music". Its True, they have their own style of music unique to them! Immediately I loved their style of music and bought this and many of its albums. This album features a collection of the BEST tracks from Roxy music and of Bryan Ferry. MY favourtie is More than this! Roxy music dates back to about 20 years, one aspect i like about their music is the introduction of the sax in some songs and the organ,it goes realy well with ... Rating: - Most of the essentials from his peak years
Bryan Ferry, either solo or as lead singer with Roxy music, made the top ten of the British charts in the seventies and eighties with fifteen singles and an extended play EP. He also had several other hits so they couldn't all be included here.
Bryan wrote a lot of his own material but he also recorded some distinctive covers. Two of the songs here date back to the thirties. Of course, most people remember the Platters for Smoke gets in your eyes, but it was actually written in 1934. The ... Read More
Rating: - NEW DIMENSIONS IN ROCK
Roxy Music was very innovative for their time and their sound progressed with every album. In particular, they used the synthesizer in a new way to create compelling textures in their fresh take on art rock. Much variety is displayed here in great rockers like Street Life and the frenzied pop of their first major hit Virginia Plain. There is also the majestic buzz of Love Is The Drug and the slick croon of Dance Away and More Than This, another take on plastic soul? Avalon impresses with its mature ... Read More
Rating: - A Very strong album, with a well ballanced mix of tracks
This album features a variety of some of Ferrry's strongest tracks as part of Roxy Music and as a solo artist. This is a very eclectic collection of melodic songs spanning over 20 years - showing the transition in style.
Rating: - Excellent album- their best ever
This album is absolutely fantastic- the roxy music sound will never be equalled for sheer origniality. The lyrics are well thought out and come across in a remarkably melancholy fashion. Highlights of the album for me were Viginia Plain (bcoz it was played at my wedding) and I put a spell on you- because that song is amazing no matter who does it. Everyone- this album is a must have! No matter what your musical taste this will instantly appeal to you- although the younger listener may find it a bit ... Read More
