Rating: - A superb album!
A marvellous set of (largely) tradional English music. Plenty of backing from the likes of James Fagan, Barnaby Stradling, Ollie Knight, as well as Eliza herself on the fiddle - yet for me it is the vocals that truly stand out.
The unaccompanied version of 'Clark Saunders' and the American 'Blind Fiddler' are just two of the splendid tracks.
Rating: - Not 'alf bad!
Not her best, but still good. Yorkshire rules (even though I'm from Greater Manchester)
Rating: - A great album by one of folk's brightest stars
This is the first solo album from the very talented Eliza Carthy. It is full of some wonderful traditional tunes. Eliza's fiddle playing is superb and her singing voice has a charming rough quality to it. I love her energy and the way she plays the fiddle (with gusto!). This is a great CD to jig around to or you can sing along and get rid of all that stress! A must-buy for fans of traditional music.
